95 % Merlot, 5 % Cabernet Franc
2 ha Sandy topsoil with a layer of iron dross below, so characteristic of the Pomerol area.
Harvesting is manual and the grapes are sorted in the vineyard.
The grapes are fully de-stemmed and wine follows traditional methods. Vatting is long (around 3 weeks) enabling as much substance to be extracted as possible from the grapes. All these operations take place at carefully regulated temperatures.
The wines are aged in oak barrels, which are renewed annually, for 12 to 18 months depending on the vintage. Racking is carried out every two months to clarify the wine naturally. It is the fined with egg whites in the time-honoured fashion before being bottled. It may be enjoyed as soon as it is bottled or laid down for a few years.
