Bois Fondu

Prêt à Boire

From low production strains of Monastrell, Cabernet and Syrah varieties, harvested and vinified with absolute obduracy, born MATIUS, a wine with intense cherry color and purple shades. It is expressive, with aromas of matured fruits amalgamated with spicy and smoked nuances coming from his semiannual rest in American and French oak. With fleshy, powerful and unctuous tannins, it has a surprisingly chocolate flavor finish.

100% Monastrell

Predominance of brown limestone soil and sandy-texture, except where the crust limestone is very superficial, high content of calcium carbonate. All these aspects contribute to the low production figures per vine (average of 1,5 kg), of our vineyards, which are old and mostly unirrigated.

Weather The climate is a mixture between continental winter and Mediterranean summer, which implies a big thermal difference, from -10ºc to over 35ºc. It is therefore, an area with very cold winters and very hot summers. Precipitations In the South East of Spain we have the lower rain figures across the country due, largely, to the shelter produced by the Béticas Ridges. This mountain obstacle and the proximity of the Azores anticyclone lead to long periods of drought, on this particular region of the Country. Vines under Jumilla’s Denomination of Origin are on the borderline between dry zones and subdesert zones, with an annual rainfall average of 30 Gallons per square meter
