About Us

Grupo Navarro López is situated in Valdepeñas in Southern Castilla La Mancha. They specialise in making quality, mono-varietal and oak aged wines to meet the needs of the growing contemporary market. The bodega was founded in 1904 by Don Juan Megia Sánchez. It continued through various generations of his family until being bought by the current owner Don Doroteo Navarro Donado who began an on-going process of radical modernisation. The commercial success of this project has allowed the bodega to grow and acquire new wineries such as Bodegas Cañadas (purchased in 1990) and Bodegas Nieto de Enrique Nieto (purchased in 1993). This expansion has boosted the production to more than 3 million litres. The bodega has a 150Ha of its own carefully maintained vineyards consisting of 120Ha of Tempranillo and 30Ha of Airén. The current policy of winemaker Virtudes Gómez is to make modern style wines with a good balance of fruit and oak. She is currently increasing the bodega's stock level of mainly american oak barrels to produce wines created specifically for international markets.
