Companhia das Quintas was created in 1999, and among its first stockholders were individual and institutional investors, outstanding among whom were Miguel Pais do Amaral, BANIF Capital, PME Investimentos and Agrocapital. It owns 21.6 million euros incorporate capital, and assets assessed at 22 million euros. Companhia das Quintas is a holding company exclusively dedicated to the wine, liquor and distillates sector. It owns or operates 5 estates [Quintas] and 6 wineries in the most representative vinicultural regions of Portugal:
•Quinta da Fronteira in Douro;
•Quinta do Cardo in the Inner Beira (Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo);
•Quinta de Pancas in the Lisbon region;
•Quinta da Romeira in Bucelas;
•Herdade da Farizoa in Alentejo (Borba). High levels of investment have been made into these properties for vineyards and wineries. Companhia das Quintas also owns a distribution company – Portuvinus Wine&Spirits.
