PV
History
PV was founded in 2004 with three partners: José Maria Calem, Jorge Serôdio Borges and Cristiano VanZeller. From the beginning it has benefited from the combined experience of these three, as between them there are more than fifteen generations with connections to the Douro and to Wine.
The main objective was, and is, to produce Red DOC wine in the Douro.
In 2004, VT was produced for the first time in a rented cellar in the Mendiz valley. In 2005, an old Port wine cellar was purchased in Vilarinho de Cotas, which was completely refurbished and equipped, and where a total of 17,500 bottles of VT'05 were produced. White wine began to be produced in the same year, under the brand name PV. In order to meet its heavy financial obligations PV went public, taking on about fifteen investors who were selected according to their ability to help promote and disseminate the wines.
In 2006 and 2007 wine-making was carried out in the same Vilarinho de Cotas cellar, and in the latter year the first PV Rosé was produced using only the Touriga Nacional variety of grapes. In 2008 the production of Port wine began.
In 2009 the White wine was renamed Egle.
