Driving along the country roads in Tuscany one can admire picturesque sights, many of which immortalised by medieval painters and sculptors. The Tuscan hills sometimes are bare, sometimes are golden with grain and sometimes again are covered wiyh rows of vines.Immersed in this unique countryside one finds the Vignacci vineyard at Montenero, where Fabio Monaci,Gabriella Lanzini and their son Cristian Monaci cultivate with passion the land the fruits therefrom.Three hectares,of a total of fifty owned by the Vignacci farm, are vineyard and include the four types of grape that create Montecucco. While the Cabernet, Merlot and Alicante grapes are essential in improving the quality and taste, the essence remains Sangiovese.Fabio and Cristian Monaci have taken advantage of a favourable position and a good soil mixture to produce an excellent Montecucco DOC, that after fermentation in steel vats spends eight months in casks before being refined in bottles. On the Montenero hills Fabio and Cristian Monaci have also planted more than 2500 olive trees that will produce an excellent extra vergine olive oil with the same care reserved for the vineyard. For anyone who ventures into the Tuscan hills and reaches Montenero, near Montalcino, a stop at the Vignacci vineyard to taste and buy Montecucco Sangiovese DOC, Montecucco Red DOC or eztra vergine olive oil is a must. All are born in an area of centuries of olive oil and winemaking tradition.
