Castello di Rubbia is a family winery in the heart of the wine land Carso in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The vineyards with about 10 hectares and a high density (9800 vines/ha) allows a very high quality of native varieties grapes such as Malvasia del Carso (better known as Malvasia d'Istria) Vitovska and Terrano. Sourranded by wood, the vineyards lie on a natural carsic valley on about 90 metres on the sea level, where high temperature range gives to the grapes particular aromatics. With respect of the territory the winery follows the philosophy of organic viticulture and manual work.
Not far from the vineyards lies the historic castle of Rubbia, which the family Cernic is restoring for touristical purposes.
