The origin of UVAL (« Union des Vignerons Associés du Levant », a winegrowers’ cooperative) dates back to 1975. UVAL was born in La Marana Cellar, in the North-East of the island, not far away from Bastia and the Cap Corse.Since then, through the impetus given by Alain MAZOYER (an oenologist who was trained in Bordeaux by Emile PEYNAUD and who is UVAL’s present managing director), the group has kept on innovating with a research programme into new niches as regards both vine and wine..The UVAL group, at present, has about 1,300 ha (3,212 acres) of vineyards with 60 wine growers, whose chairman is Louis SEMIDEI, and provides 25% of the island production with almost 100,000 hectolitres per year. The different « Pieves » that make up its vineyards are mostly spread out at the foot of high mountains, along the eastern coast of the island. As we are seeking quality and as we are deeply attached to our values, our wines illustrate the Corsican traditions and a passion for Corsica. Thanks to its dynamism and commercial or technical innovations, the UVAL group has created its own brand image. If varietal wines have made UVAL well-known, today it is a whole range of generally original, quality products that we can offer you.
As we are seeking quality and as we are deeply attached to our local environment, our wines first and foremost illustrate our passion for fine wines and our passion for Corsica.
