The Casa Santos Lima is situated in Alenquer, approximately 40 kms north of Lisbon, in a very traditional wine region where the typical Portuguese rural landscape appears in all its glory.

Casa Santos Lima ( a family business for several generations) owns a group of several estates (Quintas): Quinta da Boavista, Quinta de Bons-Ventos, Quinta das Setencostas, Quinta da Espiga and Quinta do Figo.

The current management is lead by José Luis Santos Lima Oliveira da Silva that has continued and expanded the family legacy.

The vineyards cover more than 160 ha of the 280 ha of gentle slopes, mainly limestone and clay soils, and benefit from an excellent sun exposition, as well as a climate slightly tempered by the nearby Atlantic Ocean.

Over the paste thirteen years replanting has been going at a steady pace, and of the total area of vineyards, more than 100 ha were planted since then.

About 50 different grape varieties are grown on the property, some of them still on an experimental basis.

The main winery, built in the beginning of the 1940's, has undergone numerous improvements over the last few years, as the introduction of stainless steel vats, pneumatic presses, cold and automatic refitting systems and a modern bottling line.
