The Château DE LA HUSTE is only separated from the St Emilion slopes by the country of Libourne. AREA: 5 hectares AVERAGE AGE OF THE Vines : 35 years GRAPE VARIETIES : 90% Merlot - 10% Cabernet Franc SOIL TYPE : Chalky clay hills and false plateau over a sandstone sub-soil known "as Mollasses du Fronsadais" WINEMAKING TECHNICQUES : Manual picking when the grapes are fully ripe with two sorting tables. On in the Vineyard and the other in the cellar after the destemming process. Vatting periods exceed 3 weeks in epoxy concrete vats with integrated temperature control. MATURATION : Malolactic fermentation and maturing in oak casks. 50% of which are renewed every year. A RANGE OF OLD VINTAGES AVAILABLE FROM 1964 to 2005.
