Created in 1971, CARMIM, CRL has grown steadily to become the largest winery in Alentejo region and one of the largest in the country.

With over 45 years devoted to the production of high quality wines and olive oils, and boasting an average yearly production of 17 million liters, CARMIM has achieved a leading position in the Portuguese domestic market and is now working in developing its international position worldwide with a single goal - to be considered a supplier/partner of choice in the wine business.

ENOFORUM is the visible part of an overseas strategy which today exports 5 million bottles of wine to over 40 countries and 70 partners each year.

Competitiveness and Quality are top priorities

“Our goal is to promote and sell our Portuguese wines and olive oils worldwide with the argument of their uniqueness and their distinguished character and terroir,” says João Pedro Andrade, Business Manager of the Winery.

The winery Vineyards currently occupy more than 3,000 hectares of the Alentejo region, where each year an average of 22 million bottles of wine are sold, mainly reds (80% of production) made from grapes with high levels of sugar. These yield a good alcohol content and produce wines that tend to be full bodied with intense fruit flavors and a rich color. “Come and have a taste,” says João.

The climate in Alentejo is distinctly Mediterranean, with very strong sunlight, which provides excellent maturation conditions. The soil also offers very favorable conditions for growing grapevines.

“For these reasons, the Region is ideally suited for the production of high-quality wines,” says João Pedro Andrade, Business Manager of the Winery.

Equipped with the latest technology, CARMIM operates an agro-industrial complex covering 80,000 m2, with an intake capacity during harvest of 1,500,000 kilograms of grapes per day and the ability to produce 25,000 bottles an hour.
